Yummy Local Restaurants
Our community is very food oriented, something that is apparent from the delicious daily morning chai and the quality of the potlucks (no comparison to pre-school potlucks for example). Maybe Ashtanga implies foodie.
I thought this site would be a good place to pool resources and tips on good local restaurants, Indian and otherwise. If you have strong opinions please post!
Here’ s a first entry.
We went there a few weeks ago. The decor is strikingly modern with an sublte blend of traditional elements.
The menu is more modern than Amber India on El Camino in Mountain View (itself a very good restaurant IMHO). The vegetarian selection is more varied too.
The food was VERY good – a risotto fritter for starters and some sort of stuffed potatoe for main course. Here are example of the adventurous fare found on the menu:
PAN FRIED EGGPLANT STEAK
(Stuffed with masala paneer & eggplant, tomato onion seed sauce)
$ 12.95
BHARA JUNGLI KHUMB
(Roasted Portobello stuffed with paneer & asaparagus bhurjee)
$ 12.95
So highly recommended! As a bonus, Dipita built their website.
I heartily agree! My husband and I have been there several times – it’s our current favorite restaurant. However, I recommend sticking with the classical Indian dishes – we didn’t find the “nouvelle” cuisine there as good as the traditional indian cuisine.
Blessings,
Connie
