I was in New York last week and went to practice at Eddie Stern’s new studio, or to be precise studios. A few months back he was kicked out of the Broome Street studio and opened two new ones, one in Downtown Manhattan (1st Street) and the other in Brooklyn.
As a yoga tourist I had to go to both. Here is a sign on the stairs at the Bhakti center in Manhattan.
The Brooklyn studio is much bigger with a cavernous feel, painted all white (there was still a smell of fresh paint when I practiced there which went away after the surya namaskars b). It was very warm as there is radiant heating in the concrete floor.
As a bonus there was homemade chai served by Eddie and made by his wife.
The chai itself is worth the trip!
