Morning Meditation

Starting from this Thursday January 14, we will have a weekly meditation sitting before the Mysore class, from 6 to 6:30am.

The format will be simple silent sitting for 30 minutes.

Ever since we started focusing on meditation in my Saturday morning class, I have been coming round to thinking that meditation, or dhyana, is an essential but often overlooked part of yoga practice. After all, it is the seventh limb of our eight limbs, right before samadhi.

Here are some useful links about meditation:

For those of you who come early to do your Mysore-style practice, don’t worry you will still be able do so at the other end of the room. Mysore class will start at 6:30 as usual.

    Dear Philippe,
This is so exciting! Not only is meditation the seventh limb, so important. In many yoga traditions (especially Kriya Yoga – kriya as referred to in the sutras) asanas are considered to be most important because of the way they prepare the energy channels in the body for meditation. In keeping with that there is a very cool event happening in San Jose March 18-20. A Kriya Yoga Congress…

I will forward an e mail that I just sent to Sabina and Joseph yesterday…I hope you find it as exciting as I do and perhaps can even come for a portion of it…

    Bows,
    Julianne
