Interesting Movie

On Sunday afternoon, June 26, a great movie is showing in Palo Alto and the
director will be there to talk and answer questions before and after the show.

The movie is “Her Majesty” (details below). It has many of the same people involved as worked on “Whale Rider,” another exceptional movie from a year or 2 ago.

MARK GORDON, the director of “Her Majesty,” is back for another insight into
filmmaking and screenplay writing.

HER MAJESTY (New Zealand 2001) Drama 1 hr. 45 min.
Set in the small town of Middleton, New Zealand, in 1953, Gordon’s drama
pivots on the friendship that develops between a 13-year-old white girl,
Lizzie Wakefield (newcomer Sally Andrews), and an elderly Maori woman, Hira
Mata (Vicky Haughton). Their unlikely alliance becomes the pretext for
Lizzie’s cultural awakening.

Director Mark Gordon is in attendance before and after the screening for Q&A
