This Friday June 11, from 8:00 to 8:30am PT, we will have a pranayama workshop on kumbhaka (breath retention) on Zoom.
During the last segment of our daily pranayama session, we practice a few minutes of sama-vritti (equal time) breaths, including antar-kumbhaka (inhale retention) and bahya-kumbhaka (exhale retention). In this workshop we will examine:
- the use of the 3 bandhas: mula-bandha (root lock), uddiyana-bandha (upward lock) and jalandhara-bandha (chin lock)
- posture and inner focus
- controlling the flow of air and transitional moments between breaths and retentions
- lengthening the breath
The workshop is free. It is not recommended for complete beginners to pranayama and postural yoga.
