After Leigha
Leigha Nicole will be teaching at YiY until Sunday 7 September. She is teaching a workshop on her last weekend, and we will have a goodbye gathering on her last Sunday (details to be announced).
The next day, on Monday 8 September, Kirsten and Mitchell will be taking over the Mysore program. They have already taught at YiY several times in the past. They will be teaching until at least November (again, details to be announced). Here’s a website, and some bios:
Kirsten began exploring yoga asana in India in 1993. She studied with yogi Clive Sheridan, and at the Iyengar Yoga Study Center in Rishikesh with Rudra Dev. Heather Duplex and Rolf Naujokat introduced her to ashtanga and since 1997, Kirsten has been a student of Sri K.P. Jois, aka “Guruji”. She received Guruji’s blessing/authorization to teach in 1999, and is one of few women in the world currently learning the Advanced ‘A’ series under his and Sharath’s guidance. She taught with Rolf Naujokat for 5 years; in 2001 they started the seasonal ashtanga classes on Koh Phangan, Thailand.
Mitchell first came to India in 1979 to deepen his knowledge of meditation and contemplative movement. After many years of searching for the right practice, he found ashtanga yoga in 2000, and has been a dedicated practitioner ever since; he received Guruji’s authorization to teach in 2003. Mitchell also studied intensively with Dena Kingsberg in Australia for 3 years.
